You might be wondering how people join the Company. Well, there are two main ways: patrimony and nomination.
If your father is a member when you are born you have the right to join by patrimony, so membership can be passed down the family. This means some families, such as the Rowntrees, have been members for many generations.
Nomination is when someone who is thought to be suitable to join is chosen, or nominated, by a member. A committee decides whether to accept this person as a new member.
