A selection of portraits showing members through the centuries
Merchant Adventurers' Hall
Members of the Company used to be merchants. Originally they mainly sold woollen cloth and brought all sorts of goods back to York.
But today the Merchant Adventurers are men and women who work in a variety of different careers – teachers, architects, accountants, bankers, business people and many more.
What unites them is an entrepreneurial or adventuring spirit, just like the original Merchant Adventurers.
